A Quiet Incident, A Quiet Submersion
My season of enduring had begun to pass.
I could no longer tell how the years had gone,
or whether I had grown any older at all.
Everything felt so clear.
Yet, looking back, it all drifted away.
Facing the mirror for the first time in a while,
the person looking back felt like a stranger.
I seem to have lost all sense of direction these past few days.
I felt like a paper boat,
floating out on a distant sea.
Where I was going never really mattered.
I just needed somewhere to be-
anywhere that could keep me afloat.
I felt free.
Is this the end of it all?
I hope it is.
It would be a rather beautiful ending.
I’ll see where it ends.
